Ultramarines and Yujing

Posted: February 7, 2017 in Infinity, Warhammer 40k

Ever had a model that you enjoyed painting so much you wish it wasn’t part of a commission cause you really want to put it on your own display shelf?  Cause that’s how I feel about the Guijia Squadron figure from Infinity’s Yu Jing.  I enjoyed it so much I’ll probably shell out the cash to buy my own just to paint it again.

I’ll save you the painting details on this one, only cause like some of my previous work I used  Angel Giraldez’s Masterclass Volume 2 as a guide for all my Yu Jing stuff I’ve been working on.
Seriously that guide was worth every penny.

And in honor of Grandpapa Smurf returning to the 41st Millennium, I present to you my Ultramarines Killteam I put together for an event and a local game store.

These were an ebay rescue so to speak.  Well the infantry were at least.  I’ve included a picture of what they originally looked like for you.  The paint wasn’t that bad, and I stripped it off with some simple green.  The problem was there was a lot of super glue on them.  So I spent a good amount of time chipping the extra glue off.

The base coat was a combination of Kantor blue and Macragge blue.  Highlighted with Magic Blue and then white.

After airbrushing the basic highlights, I went back in with a brush and added some edge highlighting.

I used a sponge to had the chipping on the armor.

As far as how they preformed in the kill team, they did all right.  I was running them as Stern Guard and I find the Hellfire rounds can make quick work of other marine armies by just forcing them to make saves.  However, I got tabled against Thousand Sons since all of their shooting ignored my armor.  None the less, still had fun playing them, and even more fun painting them.
