Commission Update

As I mentioned I started work on a commission project of a good amount of imperial guard.  The first day I got all the infantry finished up, which wasn’t too hard as most of them were metal which meant assembly was limited to mostly mold line removing.

The last two days however I’ve been working on vehicles.  Fully finished are 2 hydras, 1 manticore, and the medusa is technically finished I just have it in parts so I can paint the interior.

Some things I’ve learned while doing this that I’ll pass on to you in case you start building any of these models.  First, Forgeworlds designs are still based on the old chimera chassis.  This means that when you put the hydras together there is either a large piece jutting out of the back of the vehicle or you have a huge gap.  I find the easiest way to correct this is to test fit the secondary floor plate while you have the resin back mounted up and draw a line where it meets.  Cut this and then file it at an angle to match the resin piece.  For the medusa you have to take to primary floor plate and cut the little slot piece out and make the lip that you would mount the second piece to flush across.  otherwise interior insert doesn’t fit.  I realise now that all this would make more sense with pictures to really show you what I was talking about but, as usual I got so into the building process I forgot that pictures would be a good idea.

So instead you get a shot of what I have done on the vehicles.  The Basilisks only need their hatches and heavy bolters and they’ll be ready and I still have to assemble a chimera, hellhound and bombard.  So I’ve got my work cut out for me tomorrow.  Hopefully I should have everything primed by tomorrow night.
